Karin Soderquist’s illustrations pop with bubblegum colours, from coloured paper collages to newer work using laser cut 3D illustrations, it’s a charming sweet world. The narratives which unfold throughout these imagined worlds are instantly captivating, a lurking sadness enhancing their cheery sheen to allude to something bittersweet.

Karin’s work ranges from illustration for brands, including a tshirt design for Lazy Oaf and a window display for Selfridges, to carved illustrated stories, beautifully realised 3D versions of her illustrated world.

From the whimsical to the philosophical, the world Karin depicts is filled with everyone from hat wearing bears to Kafka and Sartre – the philosophical is always imbued with whimsy and the whimsy is captivating.
