Look with your eyes, Look | Frith Street Gallery

This group exhibition draws together works by eight artists based in the UK, USA and Europe: Rachel Adams, Sara Barker, Neil Clements, Alex Dordoy, David Maljkovic, Helen Mirra, Rudolf Polanszky and Erin Shirreff. Curated by Susanna Beaument, Frith Street Gallery’s recently appointed Director, the exhibition takes its title from Jules Verne’s 1867 novel, MIchael Strogoff, in which the eponymous hero is imprisoned and supposedly blinded by his captors. The exhibition, which includes sculpture, painting and photography has no rigid theme but is rather an exploration of form and structure; material and illusion.

Adam Latham and Rich Wilson | DEPARTMENT STORE | Take Courage

Following on from the very critical success of their Elephant Man Tours historical walking tours project, artists Rich Wilson and Adam Latham have turned their back on tourism and turned their busy minds to the business of opening a DEPARTMENT STORE.

For ten days visitors and customers alike will be able to peruse over three floors of a mid-renovation Georgian townhouse full to brimming with luxury, semi-luxury and affordable consumer items. From squirrel flippers to umbrella trees, sock scarves to shell spoons; everything, as they say, is under one roof.

On the top floor they launch their dazzling new clothing label ‘Trendy Boy.com’, a collection that has already inspired one Japanese fashion expert to buy everything they had on their stall. On the first floor there’s Homeware, and on the ground floor a well-stocked gift shop with all the toys, gadgets, musical instruments and tropical paraphernalia that fans of their online shop have come to view as essential to a happy life in the modern world.

Until 24th July

CONSTRUCT & COMPLY An installation by DSC at Sanderson Hotel

The relationship between brand lust and form are explored in a provoking installation, part of the Delight & Destroy series by artist DSC. The question is, are we conditioned to desire an object on logo alone? The premise is asked with the transformation of the mundane into luxury. Elevating and reconstituting their form and displaying it with a jewel like beauty that is akin to a superficial alchemy. Step into the workshop and find the answer yourself.

Welsh born artist David Gwyther studied Architecture before practicing internationally. Now based in London, Gwyther is the man behind the cult motion art brand DSC. DSC works with urethane paint to transform the state of existing objects, often playing with themes of consumption and desire. Debuting in 2010 with a sellout solo show, a swift rise to fame fuelled by rapid accumulation of fans fed by both digital and print looks set to continue with the 2011 Delight & Destroy series.

Jake or Dinos Chapman White Cube Mason’s Yard and Hoxton Square

For the past year, Jake and Dinos have been working in separate studios to produce a series of works in isolation from each other. Only in the staging of this show will each become aware of what the other has done. Unlike Gilbert & George, for whom Jake and Dinos worked at times as studio assistants, their practice is not one of ’singular duality’. They have always discussed, debated, argued and on occasion fought over creative and cultural ideas, but in this exhibition they will scrutinise and confront the whole idea of creative collaboration.
