Limited edition Killers art collectibles to go on sale

Limited edition Killers art collectibles to go on sale Killers fans are being given an exclusive chance to own a piece of musical art heritage, as 150 limited edition pieces of the iconic ‘Day and Age’ album cover, designed by British-born artist Paul Normansell, will be released on 25th November.

To mark the anniversary of the top-selling album, the ultimate Killers collector’s set will feature a portrait of each band member and the “best album cover of 2008”, as voted by Rolling Stone magazine. Normansell’s specially-commissioned portraits also play a central role in the Killers’ ‘Human’ music video, while the painting of lead guitarist Dave Keuning adorns the cover of the hit single.

The Killers front man Brandon Flowers approached Normansell after seeing his innovative mosaic-inspired portrait of Kate Moss in GQ magazine, and has revealed his inspiration for the album art work stemmed from classic Beatles album covers.

Famous for his trademark ‘colour-spot’ style, Normansell creates abstract high-gloss dot paintings on an aluminium backdrop, his unique style complementing the Killers’ own dot-matrix logo. Within a few months of being approached, Birmingham-based artist had designed and created the internationally-recognisable ‘Day and Age’ album cover depicting a nocturnal desert scene, linking the Las Vegas band back to their Nevada roots.

Hailed as London’s Lichtenstein, Normansell finds inspiration from the close correlation between art, fashion and music. The artist’s distinctive and style-conscious imagery has received international acclaim from critics and collectors alike, and his work is thought to define the shifting trends of popular culture.

To date, Normansell has been commissioned to paint Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Agyness Deyn, and his depiction of Kate Moss is said to hang on the walls of Rimmel’s international headquarters in London.

150 limited edition pieces of Paul Normansell’s Killer’s collection will be available to buy online on Thursday 25th November at 9.00am GMT at www.thekillersart.com. Guide prices will range from £495 – £2,995.
