EXHIBITION 9-31 JANUARY 2009
The exhibition will focus on the practice of eating, in the ritual of the everyday, exploring its place as the primary purpose of social gathering, by connecting eating to society, economics, politics and commodity through metaphor in common language.
EAT explores the human condition of Hunger, and the human appetite as omnivores, a mark of dominance in the world. The necessity of eating, of gaining material, from outside our being, which drives man out into the world where there are things that we want and need, which we act upon to bring inside.
SHOUT is looking at the process of ingestion and regurgitation through consuming, passing it through the brain and manufacturing it out into form, as spoken word, text, painting, sculpture and performance.
