Established in 1980 by Larry Gagosian in Los Angeles, Gagosian is a global gallery specializing in modern and contemporary art. With nineteen exhibition spaces across the United States, Europe, and Asia, Gagosian employs over three hundred people.
Gagosian leads the digital marketplace with innovative online viewing rooms, coinciding with major art fairs. These rooms feature highly desirable works by today’s leading artists, transparent pricing, historical scholarship, and insightful market analysis.
The gallery collaborates with marquee living artists such as Georg Baselitz, John Currin, Rachel Feinstein, Urs Fischer, and many more, along with design masters Frank Gehry and Marc Newson.
Gagosian presents museum-quality exhibitions of historical artists like Arakawa, Diane Arbus, Francis Bacon, and others. Notably, Larry Gagosian curated a tribute exhibition featuring Picasso masterpieces in 2019.
As a pioneer in publishing, Gagosian established the first gallery publishing house in 1986, producing catalogues raisonnés, monographs, and artist’s books. The Gagosian Quarterly offers unique access to artists through interviews and profiles.
With locations in New York and London, the Gagosian Shop curates rare books, art editions, collaborations, posters, jewelry, apparel, and Leica cameras.
Gagosian fosters cultural programming and events, including performances, exhibition tours, talks, screenings, and studio visits. The gallery is committed to advising artists on legacy planning, evident in its Building a Legacy program launched in 2018.
Gagosian’s exhibition spaces, designed by world-renowned architects, showcase a diverse range of projects, from Jenny Saville’s depictions of the human form to Richard Serra’s monumental sculptures and Roy Lichtenstein’s site-specific wall paintings.
