Karen Margolis, Calculational Impasse, 2009. Watercolor, gouache, graphite, and map fragments on abaca paper. 30 x 22 inchesOpening reception June 4, 6-8 PM Exhibition on view June 5 – July 24, 2009
Dieu Donné is pleased to present Mindscapes, an exhibition featuring the work of Karen Margolis and Daniel Zeller. Both artists cultivate an intimate otherworldliness through extremely detailed compositions of delicate linework. Margolis’ flowing forms of color create emotional landscapes rendered on translucent abaca paper. The biological essence of Margolis’ work is complemented by the vivid rivers and valleys of Daniel Zeller. Although Zeller’s imagery is reminiscent of topographical maps, circulatory systems, or satellite photographs, the drawings spring entirely from the artist’s intuition. Also featured is an installation of suspended handmade paper forms by Margolis.
