CIRCA have launched their first fine #CIRCAECONOMY print, created by Ai Weiwei. The special edition dropped LIVE! on Piccadilly Circus last night, Saturday 30th October 2021 by the renowned artist and social activist, Ai Weiwei during a special presentation on the iconic Piccadilly Lights and is available to purchase now for £5000 on CIRCA.ART.
The special edition of 51 hand-typed and signed copperplate etched prints, is titled “£” and has been created by Ai Weiwei to commemorate the first anniversary of CIRCA, the art and culture platform with purpose. The new work explores the value of £100 and what it could buy in the UK when CIRCA launched onto the global stage in 2020. Since announcing the launch of the limited-edition edition on 1st October 2021 via social media, CIRCA has received over 2,000 expressions of interest in purchasing one of the editions.
Proceeds from the sale of “£” will go towards supporting the CIRCA free public art programme in London, Tokyo, Seoul, Milan and New York and fuel its #CIRCAECONOMY initiative – a circular model that creates life-changing opportunities for the art & culture community.

In October 2021, Joseph Wilson was selected by Marina Abramovi? as the CIRCA x Dazed Class of 2021 winner, receiving the #CIRCAECONOMY cash prize of £30,000. Later this year, CIRCA will award two scholarships to Goldsmiths, University of London.
Expanding on CIRCA’s commitment to providing equal opportunities to all, the 51st edition was awarded to one entrant who responded to the question: “WHERE DO WE GO FROM NOW?”. “WHERE DO WE GO FROM NOW?” was a month-long public investigation throughout October into unlocking the future ahead of COP26 featuring key responses from world-leading artists, activists and thinkers including Ai Weiwei, Sir David Adjaye, Katharine Hamnett CBE, Marina Abramovi?, Nikita Gale and Tom Whyman amongst others. The #WINAWEIWEI winner was drawn at random by Ai Weiwei LIVE! in Piccadilly Circus on 30th October 2021. Ai Weiwei’s “£” is available to purchase on CIRCA.ART for £5,000.
