1. If you weren’t an artist, what else would you be?
a. I am happy being a maker.

2. Name 3 of your least favourite artists.
a. I tend to remember artists I like, rather than dislike. The Chapman
Brothers do spring to mind though.

3. Anytime, any place – which artist’s body would you most like to inhabit?
a. Mine.

4. What is your favourite ‘ism’?
a. Realism.

5. What was the most intelligent thing that someone said or wrote about your
work?

a. “It looks like it’s going to get up and run away.”

6. And the dumbest?
a. The above.

7. Which artists would you most like to rip off, sorry, I mean appropriate as a
critique of originality and authorship?

a. Serge Gainsbourg.

8. Do you care what your art costs? State your reasons!

a. Yes. I need to live from my work.

9. What are the three big ideas that you would like your work to express?
a. I don’t think that question applies to my work.

10. Are you a political artist?
a. No.

11. How do you start the process of making work?
a. By sharpening a pencil.

12. What next?
a. Doodling, usually.

13. If Moma and the Tate and the Pompidou wanted to acquire one of your
works each, which would you want them to have?

a. They will have to wait.

14. What is your favourite cheese?
a. The one that’s made backwards.

15. What’s next for you?
a. I’m going to peel some shrimps.
