Cass Art has opened a new concept store at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, introducing a redesigned retail format in one of London’s fastest-growing creative districts.

Located on Stable Street, the 3,000 sq ft space represents a new direction for the UK’s leading art materials retailer. Designed with a pared-back, gallery-like aesthetic, the store brings together premium art materials, contemporary stationery and creative lifestyle products, while placing greater emphasis on creativity, community and in-store experiences.
The opening strengthens Cass Art’s long-standing presence within London’s arts ecosystem, positioning the retailer alongside Central Saint Martins, Google’s King’s Cross headquarters and the wider cultural and commercial development that has transformed Coal Drops Yard into one of the capital’s most distinctive destinations.
Among the highlights is a bespoke frieze created by Pentagram, exploring the pigments behind some of history’s most celebrated paintings. The store also features one of London’s most comprehensive selections of spray paint, a dedicated display of the full Caran d’Ache range and flexible spaces for sculpture, conceptual art and live creative workshops.
Rather than functioning solely as a retail space, the new concept store has been designed as a destination where artists, students, hobbyists and first-time makers can experiment with materials, attend workshops and receive advice from Cass Art’s team of practising artists.
Cass Art has worked with nearby Central Saint Martins for more than three decades, reflecting the company’s continued support of universities, schools, galleries and arts organisations across the UK. The move to Coal Drops Yard places the retailer at the centre of a neighbourhood synonymous with creative industries, education and contemporary culture.

Mark Cass, Founder of Cass Art, said:
“I first looked at this site 12 years ago, so it’s incredibly exciting to finally see Cass Art become part of the King’s Cross community. As one of the most important creative hubs in the UK, it’s a natural home for us and we very much look forward to becoming part of this vibrant neighbourhood. We’ll officially launch the store on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, with lots of fun activities and events planned and unique offers so make sure to plan your trip!”
The store is now open, with an official launch weekend planned for 12th–13th September, featuring workshops, creative activities and special offers for visitors.
