To mark International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Artsy has launched Women-Led Galleries Now, a new online showcase highlighting emerging and mid-career women artists represented by nearly 300 women-led galleries across six continents.
The initiative brings together a wide selection of works spanning painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media, with prices ranging from $100 to more than $50,000. Curated highlights selected by Artsy’s editorial team appear in a dedicated “Curator’s Picks” section within the platform.

The project also addresses an ongoing imbalance in the art market. According to Artsy’s data, among ultra-contemporary artists born in 1975 or later, women artists accounted for 34.74% of total sales value on the platform in 2025, compared to 61.16% for male artists — a disparity of roughly two to one. While that figure represents an improvement on the wider global market, where women artists account for 23.22% of sales value, it underscores how structural inequalities continue to shape the visibility and commercial success of women artists.

For Artsy’s Chief Curator Casey Lesser, women-led galleries remain central to shifting that balance.
“Women-led galleries play a critical role in closing this gap — they’ve long been at the forefront of championing women artists, especially emerging and mid-career artists who need visibility and market support,”
she said.
“They’re tastemakers who shape what collectors discover and help build artists’ careers. Women-Led Galleries Now makes it easy for collectors to support both the women artists and the women-led businesses behind them, all in one place.”
By bringing together a global network of galleries on a single platform, the showcase positions women-led initiatives not only as advocates but as key drivers of the contemporary art ecosystem. For collectors, the initiative offers a streamlined way to discover new artists while directly supporting the galleries helping to shape their careers.
Running throughout Women’s History Month, Women-Led Galleries Now presents a snapshot of the international art scene through the lens of women curators, gallerists and artists — highlighting the growing impact of women-led programmes across the market.
