Frieze today announced initial details for Frieze New York 2026, the fair’s 15th edition, which will return to The Shed from May 13th to 17th, 2026. Now in its sixth consecutive year at the renowned cultural centre, the fair will continue to anchor the city’s arts calendar, bringing together a world-class community of artists, galleries, and collectors.
With a strong presence of Central and South American galleries at the fair, Frieze New York spotlights the region’s outstanding galleries and artists, supported by two new gallery committee members – Fátima González of Campeche and Omayra Alvarado of Instituto de Visión – as well as standout presentations.
Christine Messineo, Director of Americas, Frieze said: \
“The fair is a snapshot of the most compelling artistic practices today in an international city that embraces rigor, complexity and ambition. Our close relationships with New York’s institutions – particularly around time-based media and performance – extend our impact beyond the fair architecture, from Chelsea and into the wider city.”
Focus: The Next Generation of Voices
Frieze New York 2026 will continue to platform the next generation of contemporary voices with ‘Focus,’ the fair’s section dedicated to bold solo presentations brought by galleries operating for 12 years or less. Curator Lumi Tan returns for a third consecutive year and brings together the perspectives of 11 galleries spotlighting experimental and risk-taking artistic practices.
Since relocating to The Shed, ‘Focus’ has continued to be a highlight of Frieze New York. International in its scope this year, the section brings together seven galleries participating at the venue for the first time: Campeche, Europa, Isla Flotante, Sargent’s Daughters, Soft Opening, Ulrik and W-galería. They will be joined by returning participants Central, Champ Lacombe, Gordon Robichaux and Public.
Presented as part of an ongoing global partnership with Stone Island, ‘Focus’ remains a vital platform for the next generation of artists, offering visibility, dialogue, and connection on a global stage. By foregrounding experimentation and diversity, the section reinforces Frieze’s role as a space for discovery and new ideas within contemporary culture, while also reflecting Stone Island’s commitment to supporting emerging artists and galleries through research-led, material-driven projects.
Lumi Tan, Curator, stated:
“This year’s ‘Focus’ brings together another ambitious round of presentations from galleries based in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, São Paulo, London, Biarritz, and New York, with over half the exhibitors being featured in the section for the first time at The Shed. I’ve been incredibly excited by the section’s expansive range of media and cultural histories, with solo presentations that demonstrate how both historic and emerging artists have been and continue to be invested in world-building—imagining new structures and forms to engage with subjects as overwhelming as ecological devastation and urban spectacle, to as intimate as the relationship between mother and child.”
