2 ALEX KATZ WHITE LOTUS – Sep 20th, 2025, GRAY Chicago

Though titled after the hit television show, White Lotus by Alex Katz bears very little relation to HBO’s dark comedy. Rather, the paintings in this series are guided more by the tools of cinema, through Katz’s use of monumental canvas, dramatic lighting, and repeating figures. Opening at GRAY’s Chicago gallery two weeks before the artist turns 98 years old, White Lotus is a testament not only to Katz’s nonstop creative output, but also his status as one of the most groundbreaking American artists of both the 20th and 21st centuries. 3 Jean Jullien, JUJU’S CASTLE – October 26th 2025 NANZUKA ART INSTITUTE, Shanghai

JUJU’s Castle is a solo exhibition by French artist Jean Jullien. This is his first solo exhibition in China and features a collection of over 80 new paintings created during his stay in Tokyo at NANZUKA, alongside sculptures, objects, models and a large-scale installation.
As the title JUJU’s Castle suggests, the exhibition invites visitors on a narrative journey based on Jullien’s memories and experiences, retold fictitiously in order to make it relatable to a larger audience. Like an immersive tale. The true protagonists of this show are the visitors themselves. Each gallery space becomes a dungeon in a grand castle, where a party of four—warrior, elf, mage, and hero—encounters various monsters along the way. MORE
4 Rick Owens, Temple Of Love – 4th January 2026, Palais Galliera, Paris Fashion museum
The Palais Galliera is holding the first exhibition in Paris dedicated to the work of avant-garde fashion designer Rick Owens. It features collections from his early beginnings in Los Angeles through to his most recent. With a fascination for spiritual ritual, his creations draw on a wide range of references, from Joris-Karl Huysmans to modern and contemporary art, as well as the great Hollywood films of the early 20th century. Rick Owens himself is the exhibition’s artistic director and he has worked with the curation of the Palais Galliera to create an exhibition trail that extends to the façade of the museum as well as its garden. 5 Sterling Ruby, –September 28th MaMo by Ora Ïto Marseille
A new Sterling Ruby presentation has opened at MaMo by Ora Ïto Art Center, consisting of a major sculpture and a rarely exhibited painting by Sterling Ruby. A decade in preparation, this project brings together Ruby’s monumental sculpture DOUBLE CANDLE (2018) and his largest spray-painting, WALL (2017). The exhibition places Ruby’s landmark works into remarkable dialogue with one of the 20th century’s most radical architectural achievements. Ruby has been described by critic Roberta Smith, in The New York Times, as “ one of the most interesting artists of this century, ” underscoring the breadth and urgency of his practice. For Ruby, an artist based in Los Angeles whose work has long explored material transformation, social structures, and the built environment this exhibition presents a rare opportunity to engage deeply with the cultural and symbolic heritage of La Cité Radieuse, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
