A ground-breaking new exhibition, Symbiotic Epidermis, is opening at HYPHA Studios Galley Marble Arch tonight June 26th 6PM .

Audiences are invited to explore the complex relationship between human identity, technology, and the environment.

This project delves into core concepts of posthumanism philosophy, transhumanism, and new materialism, examining the skin as a dynamic interface where biological, technological, and environmental systems converge.

Symbiotic Epidermis

Moves beyond viewing the skin as a mere boundary. Instead, it positions it as a profound site of exchange and transformation, echoing posthumanism ideas of interconnectedness and transhumanist visions of bodily enhancement and evolution. The featured artworks vividly depict the skin merging with external organisms or technologies, subtly blurring the lines between the human and non-human, natural and artificial. Through these powerful artistic explorations, the exhibition prompts vital inquiry into the future of human identity in an increasingly hybrid world.

To foster deeper public engagement and understanding, Symbiotic Epidermis will extend beyond the gallery space with a dynamic series of public activities. These include talks by exhibiting artists and leading specialistsguided tours, and interactive workshops, transforming the exhibition into a vibrant learning laboratory. A particular focus will be placed on investigating critical themes such as haptic communication for inclusion and neurodiversity.

Adopting a “transversal research” approach, the project actively involves scientists, artists, and researchers in collaborative dialogue. The exhibition itself will serve as the central hub for this rich, interdisciplinary engagement.

Ultimately, Symbiotic Epidermis aims to cultivate public understanding of the evolving relationship between humanity, technology, and the environment. By demystifying complex theoretical frameworks, promoting empathy towards neurodiversity, encouraging critical thinking about future identities, and fostering interdisciplinary learning, this project seeks to:

*Enhance public engagement with contemporary art.

*Offer a nuanced comprehension of posthumanism, transhumanism, and inclusive communication practices.

*Spark meaningful dialogue and forge novel intellectual connections within the London art scene and beyond.
