Mark Cass, Founder and CEO of Cass Art says
“My family has a long, proud history of supporting artists. We are delighted to continue this legacy and announce the return of The Cass Art Prize for 2025. Our mission is to fill every town with artists, and from professionals to beginners our inaugural Prize showed us there is truly something for everyone with this prize. We look forward to seeing and showcasing the incredible talent across the Cass Art and SAA communities in our second year.”

The Cass Art Prize returns this year with an exciting new judging panel including revered painter and former National Portrait Gallery Portrait Award-winner Ishbel Myerscough, beloved Turner Prize-nominated Scottish sculptor and “icon of public art” David Mach RA, Times Radio arts & culture producer Tim Allen, Soho Revue Founding Director India Rose James, artist and Director of The Bomb Factory Pallas Citroen, Curator, Cultural Producer, TV Personality and Attitude Magazine Pride Award-winner Ryan Lanji and internationally exhibited London artist Michaela Yearwood-Dan.
The 2025 Prize also welcomes four new categories. A new Over 65 Award supported by Cass Art founder Mark Cass will champion art made by people aged over 65.
The Judge’s New Talent Award winner will win a solo show at Soho Revue selected by guest judge Soho Revue founder India Rose James. Other new categories include the Emerging Artist Award supported by Arches which celebrates artists aged 35 or under, and the Pastel Award supported by Sennelier.
In 2024, the Prize was a true celebration of British art’s diversity, resilience, and impact. Works from across the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland were recognised and exhibited.

The Cass Art Prize 2024 was won by rising British artist Reuben Murray. Murray won for Ada, his portrait of an extraordinary Jamaican Maroon with a Nigerian Yoruba name. The moving piece told the story of African slaves who freed themselves to establish communities of free black people in Jamaica. His work is displayed on the Winner’s stand at The Other Art Fair, 6-9 March at The Truman Brewery. The Cass Art Prize 2024 People’s Choice Award made headlines around the world after Ruqaiya Asim, a blind art student, had a remarkable win for her piece Communication With My Guide Dog.
The Cass Art Prize also welcomes SAA (Supporting All Artists), the UK’s largest Art Club with 30,000+ members, into the wider Cass Group after it was acquired in 2022. SAA’s longstanding ‘Artist of the Year’ competition runs as a category within the Cass Art Prize: SAA members are exclusively eligible for these categories: ‘Wildlife’, ‘Abstract or Experimental’, ‘Land, Sea & City’, ‘Still Life & Botanical’ and ‘People’.
There will also be dedicated prizes for all Cass Group Staff. Many Cass Art staff are artists and offer expert advice in Cass Art’s 13 stores across the UK.
Everyone is encouraged to enter the Cass Art Prize 2025. Submissions open from 4th March 2025 until 13th May 2025. cassart.co.uk/thecassartprize
