Vanya Balogh Distant Pleasures is a solo exhibition by London based artist Vanya Balogh devised for the closing week of 60th Venice Biennale.
This brief but in depth visual meditation on Sex, Apocalypse and Technology is his second Venitian solo show and features recent works especially adapted, fabricated and produced for this intriguing Venetian space.
Situated across the landscape of all manner of historic and vintage paraphernalia that lives in this extraordinary ambient, works the media of photography, Film and sculpture are carefully placed, integrated and adjusted to merge seamlessly into the fabric of Studio Inchiostro. Whilst exploring the anguish & psychosis of our times through sexuality, dystopia and hi tech, Distant Pleasures give us a possibility of ecstatic and cerebral, Fleshy and memorable to capture the moment, the zeitgeist of apocalyptic times we live in.
Studio Inchiostro is a former workshop/ studio of Venetian artist and surrealist master printer engraver Mario Guadagnino which has been retained in all its glory after his passing in 2022. It was recently converted into an intriguing exhibition space and is now hosting carefully curated site specific projects, under the guidance of Venetian artist and curator Alvise Guadagnino.

About the artist
Vanya Balogh is an independent artist/curator who was Born in Zagreb, Croatia. He studied at Central St Martins and currently lives and works in London and Germany, with studios in Hackney Wick and Berlin. Vanya is best known for his car park take-over satellite exhibitions, held during Frieze week, in London. He has continued the theme with similar pop-ups in London’s Chinatown.
