The sale is led by an exceptionally rare lifetime print of Diane Arbus’ Identical twins, Roselle, N.J., 1967. The print comes to auction from the private collection of celebrated Japanese photographer Ikk? Narahara.
The 20th edition of ULTIMATE spotlights Japanese and Chinese photography of the 1960s and 1970s, led by Ikk? Narahara’s most celebrated work Two Garbage Cans, Indian Village, New Mexico, 1972. Further highlights from important private collections include seminal works by Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Peter Beard. The sale will feature ULTIMATE Ellen Von Unwerth and contemporary highlights include works by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Gregory Crewdson, and David LaChapelle, among others.
