BIRKENSTOCK has created an immersive experience based around minimalist design and their legacy of craftsmanship. Featuring nature at its core, the space is a visual celebration of it’s new HIGHWOOD collection.
Collaborating with spatial designer & artist David Curtis-Ring the aim was to recontextualise the hidden benefits of the Highwood through a transformative experience. Visitors to the space were enveloped by fresh greenery and earthy hues and the central installation by Curtis-Ring inspired by the themes of nature and comfort.
We managed to ask Curtis-Ring about his process and he explained he started with a clay model of the installation before going on to produce the final installation. As you can see from the images the process visually highlights the two disciplines of Curtis-Ring’s process the beginning is art the delivery is spatial design. What is interesting to us is the obvious connection and relationship between the two creations- it could almost be love.
To deepen this connection between humanity and the natural world, sound artist Justin Wiggan was asked to enhance the experience with an all-encompassing soundscape designed to calm and ground, played from handcrafted sound systems by Berlin-based H.A.N.D.HIFI.
