Special live music events mark extended REVERB for Frieze Week.

The Vinyl Factory – REVERB, one of 180 Studios most celebrated exhibitions, has now been extended until 10th November 2024 due to overwhelming demand.

REVERB explores the intersection of art and sound and brings together over 100 artists and musicians working across visual arts, music, film and live performance in the largest exhibition of its kind ever staged. The exhibition features audio-visual installations from artists including Theaster Gates, Es Devlin, Julianknxx, Caterina Barbieri, Kahlil Joseph, Stan Douglas, Virgil Abloh, Jeremy Deller and William Kentridge.

Throughout Frieze Week, 180 Studios will host a number of special live music events including a transformative evening of music and performance in collaboration with Julianknxx, exploring the sounds and stories of Africa’s Bantu culture, and exclusive live Listening Room sessions with New York artist Devon Turnbull.

A brand-new exhibition catalogue produced by 180 Studios and designed by Ben Prescott now accompanies the exhibition.

Devon Turnbull in Conversation Monday 7th October, 7PM Ossian Ward will be in conversation with artist Devon Turnbull to explore the philosophy behind his immersive installation HiFi Listening Room Dream No.1. Together they will delve into Turnbull’s passion for sound, music and the art of listening.

REVERB Live Sessions: Attuned in the Bantutronic In collaboration with Julianknxx Tuesday 8th October, 7PM For this immersive performance into the realm of Bantutronic – a genre and philosophy founded by Julianknxx, musician THABO, and a community of musicians and vocalists, Julianknxx and THABO will be joined by Professor Tina Campt for an evening of conversation, poetry readings and live music performance. Taking place within the performance space created by Theaster Gates specifically for The Vinyl Factory – REVERB, theevening will uncover the foundational stories and languages of Africa, presented alongside contemporary sounds and voices. Both a collective and a broader artistic practice, the project unites artists from the Bantu diaspora to explore, progress, and express the beauty of Bantu culture.

Devon Turnbull: Live in Session Wednesday 9th October, 7PM & 8.30PM & Thursday 10th October, 7PM & 8.30PM After the success of his 2023 residency at Lisson Gallery, Devon Turnbull returns to London for two special live music sessions at his HiFi Listening Room Dream No.1 at 180 Studios, playing exclusive new recordings on his own sound system.
