Opening during Frieze Week on Tuesday, October 8th, ÉCLATANT! brings together McCormick’s hypnotic, meditative paintings and Brazier-Jones’ exceptional signature furniture design pieces, creating a space where light, colour, and form converge.
Los Angeles-born, London-based artist Stacie McCormick is renowned for her abstract, gestural paintings that captivate with their calming yet powerful presence. With over 30 years of dedicated practice, McCormick has a deep understanding of her gesture-creating works that appear spontaneous yet are the result of rigorous study. Her paintings, primarily on canvas and paper, utilise ink, acrylic, and oil to produce effects that engage the viewer to wander the liquid mark-making that define the worlds within her works.
Mark Brazier-Jones, New Zealand-born artist, designer, sculptor, and engineer brings his alchemical touch to the exhibition with a focus on his extraordinary chandeliers and esoteric designs. Brazier-Jones’ creations transcend mere functionality, embodying a mystical fusion of bronze, crystals, and sumptuous fabrics in his sculptural marvels that resonate with the mystical cadences of sacred geometry. Each piece is a testimony to his dedication to merging art and practical design, creating wonders that defy conventional bounds.
ÉCLATANT ! offers a unique opportunity to experience the synergy between McCormick’s meditative works of art and Brazier-Jones’ illuminating sculptural works. The exhibition explores themes of light, both metaphorical and literal, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world where art and design intersect harmoniously.
