The Top 5 Gallery Exhibitions to see in London this Summer

Muhammad Zeeshan: Demonsterate @ Kristin Hjellegjerde, Tower Bridge

Bringing together Western and Eastern influences means bold colours and geometric forms meld with figures in the style of miniature. The eyes associated with Saint Lucy can look upon a Bengal Tiger together as both hemispheres come together in these vibrant paintings. Until 16th September.

Vibha Galhotra: Climacteric @ Goodman Gallery
By creating ‘scars’ on circular pieces Galhotra is referencing the damage we’ve left on the planet and her many works made using ankle bells used by dancers now stand silent in pieces that mimic elements of nature including a hanging beehive or water flowing down a wall. It’s a subtle and meditative show. Until 14 September.

Gabriel Esteban Molina – Memory Palace 2.0: pleasure_and_sadness @ Yamamoto Keiko Rochaix

What is home and what power does it hold over us? In this exhibition, the artist remembers his family’s eviction from their Canadian home after emigrating from Chile. It’s all brought home (pun intended) by pulling together photographs using panoramic and 360-degree cameras, both virtual and augmented reality experiences, and even the bed and outfits for the family dog. Until 14 September.

Material States: Yves Klein and Günther Uecker @ Levy Gorvy Dayan

I’ve admired both Klein’s monochrome works and Uecker’s nails hammered into objects and canvas in isolation. However, I had no idea they knew each other and Klein even married Uecker’s sister so it’s great to see their works hanging side by side and the double act of minimalism works well in tandem. Until 2 August.

Damian Elwes: Studio Visit @ Unit London
Can you imagine what the studios of famous artists like Picasso, Kahlo, Matisse and Kusama look / looked like? Damian Elwes has gone one step and created them mixing research and imagination into these large paintings. It’s filled with details and easter eggs for art history buffs and is a meta take on creativity. Until 23 September.
