Signs of Life: Online Exhibition Showcases Debut Artworks from Stuart Semple’s Art School Masters Students

Stuart Semple presents “Signs of Life,” an online exhibition featuring the debut artworks from the first cohort of graduates from his online art school program. Running for a month, this virtual showcase marks a significant milestone for the school’s inaugural class.

Last year, British artist Stuart Semple established a free online art school, aiming to create not only a supportive community for artists but also to provide accessible art education to all. The school has quickly grown to almost 4000 students from all over the world who are developing their work together.

This year, Semple created a masters program which saw a small cohort of just 20 students commit themselves to an intense period of creativity, reflection, art history, and criticism. The course, inspired by Semple’s influential book ‘Make Art or Die Trying,’ has resulted in a series of works and explorations by the inaugural cohort, which can now be visited for free by anyone, anywhere in the world within an immersive virtual gallery

The exhibition explores diverse artistic expressions ranging from innovative mixed-media pieces to digital installations and socially critical artworks. Each piece reflects the transformative impact of the program and celebrates the diversity of approaches and voices within a cohort that has truly become an online collective. Exhibiting Artists Include: Todd Biernacki, Natasha Dove, Margaret Ferguson, Turtle
Hilraven, Jenny Hobbs, Ingfamous, Keira Jane, Sue Kidd, Aura Liuli, MaKai Magie, Suzanne Murphy-Devenny, Rachel Rhodes, Peggy Seymour, Nadja VanderStroom, Tori Wyatt, and Rebecca Zielsdorf.

“Signs of Life,” runs until 11th August 2024 at: Semple.Foundation
