Peter Doig has been invited by Christophe Leribault, President of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, to be the guest artist in the contemporary programme at the Musée d’Orsay this autumn with a major two-part exhibition opening 17th October 2023.

The first part of the exhibition will feature 11 works created by Doig over the past twenty years which the artist feels have an affinity with the Musée d’Orsay collection, displayed together for the first time. To accompany the presentation of his own work, the second part of the exhibition will include a selection of works from the museum’s collection curated by Doig, inspired by his lifelong artistic relationship with the artists and works of the Musée d’Orsay.

Presented in a space in the Musée d’Orsay that showcases the original architecture of the former train station, the two parts of the exhibition will be presented in separate rooms, creating a conversation around modern and post-modern expressions in painting and wider shifts in the history of painting over the past 160 years.

Further details to be announced soon.
