Exhibition & auction in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity to open in April

An exhibition & auction in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity will open from 6th April to 15th April 2023 at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

Time will feature works from over 130 artists and aims to capture what it means to be part of the brain tumour community. Exhibiting artwork will showcase long-established artists, up-and-coming names and supporters of The Brain Tumour Charity – a hugely collaborative undertaking.

The artworks have been donated to the exhibition & auction from within the brain tumour community as well as by well-known and established artists from around the world, that have some connection to the charity and community. The exhibition features photographs, illustrations, paintings, scans and sculptures from as far wide as Tel Aviv, Canada, New York and Los Angeles, to help tell the stories of those affected by a brain tumour, as well as artwork from established artists such as Opake, Nicholas Kontaxis, David Shrigley and Stony with the aim of raising awareness of the charities mission to defeat brain tumours.

Throughout the week The Brain Tumour Charity will be hosting an affordable silent auction for some of the pieces being displayed with all proceeds going towards accelerating a cure. Visitors will be able to bid on the artwork via a QR code and the highest bidder will be contacted via email after the exhibition ends with details of how to collect their piece.

Time will be open to the public to help everyone better understand the journey taken by patients, loved ones, supporters, clinicians and researchers when they’re living with a brain tumour or supporting somebody who’s received a diagnosis.

“I’m not afraid to say what I feel, and I write everything on my canvas. Every piece I paint, I always write how I’m feeling at the time, and I don’t hold back. To get what’s in my head out onto the paper is very therapeutic and important to me for my mind.”

Stony tragically passed away from a brain tumour last summer. His life and family heavily inspired Stony’s art and his battle with cancer in recent years. The Brain Tumour Charity was a very close cause to his heart due to his father’s passing of the same disease in 2007.
