Frieze confirmed today that Frieze Los Angeles will introduce a new location next year, with Los Angeles’ leading art fair set to move to Santa Monica Airport in 2023.

The new location has been selected for its additional space and flexibility that meet the requirements for
the arts organization’s ambitious plans, allowing Frieze Los Angeles to welcome innovative art and ideas
across all forms of creativity. Positioned in the Southeast corner of the airfield, the fair will take place over
multiple sites across the property, with a focus on a signature Frieze bespoke tent, built from the ground up and designed by Kulapat Yantrasast’s WHY alongside their Landscape Director Mark Thomann.

Christine Messineo, Director of Americas for Frieze said:

‘Frieze Los Angeles’ new home offers us so much – the scale of the site allows for ambitious activations and collaborations with artists, galleries and non-profits. As a major destination the fair will extend its reach across the city and celebrate the creative communities of Los Angeles.’

Additional activations in the surrounding landscape will include the fair’s core curated program Frieze Projects, as well as partner initiatives and food offerings. Taking place from February 16-19, 2023, Frieze Los Angeles is supported by global lead partner Deutsche Bank, continuing a shared commitment to artistic excellence.

Shannon Daut, Cultural Affairs Manager for Santa Monica added:

‘We are thrilled to be bringing such a venerated art event to our community and welcome the benefits it will provide to Santa Monica. We look forward to working with Frieze to connect the event to local artists and arts organizations, and to continue to leverage opportunities to expand the arts at both the Santa Monica Airport and beyond. We are proud to be a city that supports arts and culture.’

Frieze Los Angeles 2023 will host over 100 of the world’s leading galleries and feature the fair’s much-celebrated section Focus LA, devoted to younger galleries, alongside an anchor program of collaborations and special projects, for which Frieze has become known. In addition, a dedicated edition of Frieze Viewing Room will run alongside Frieze Los Angeles that will benefit from enhanced digital functionality and reach a global online audience. Located at 3223 Donald Douglas Loop South – the Airport Open Space in the Southeast corner of the property – the fair will be conveniently situated on the Westside of Los Angeles, in close proximity to arts destinations including the Hammer and the Getty Center.
