STATUTES OF MONOPOLIES is the inaugural exhibition of the new contemporary art gallery Saint George Street, the exhibition brings together six contemporary artists who have each spent decades developing iconic individual visual languages, resulting in respective practices as vital as they are instantly recognizable. While each artist’s image-making is identifiable within different art historical lineages (Pictures Generation, Western European Post-Modernism, Neo-Geo, et al.), each artist has grown their abilities to transcend any one contemporary art genre and built a vernacular universe all of their own. STATUTES OF MONOPOLIES brings together one painting from each artist dating in origin from 1987 to 2019, with paint application varying from silkscreen to gestural abstraction – tied together as an exhibition by each artist’s masterful and distinctive stylistic monopoly.

Featuring work by: VITTORIO BRODMANN, CAMILLE HENROT, JONATHAN LASKER, JULIA WACHTEL, AMELIE VON WULFFEN & HEIMO ZOBERNIG.

30th September–13th November 2021 Opening reception 30 September, 6–9PM 12 Saint George Street, First Floor Mayfair, London, W1S 2FB SaintGeorgeStreet.com
