Jamie Reid Black Queen

A who’s who of over 50 artists are to sell artworks in a silent, closed bid auction online to raise funds for a Devon food project.

Kelvin Burr, Sian Davey and Yvonne Coomber have joined Jimmy Cauty, Billy Childish and Sex Pistols cover designer Jamie Reid in the line-up of famous (and infamous) artists contributing over 50 original works and limited edition prints  to the Art for Food auction.

At least 50% raised from the auction to 21 February at www.theangelgallery.com, will go to Food in Community whose volunteers have been working flat out during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver emergency food to vulnerable households. Since lockdown, the number of Devon households struggling to source food has more than doubled.

An organiser Nicky Bell said:

‘It’s a simple but compelling proposition – a chance to own a piece of stunning artwork and know your money is supporting both Food in Community and the artists in these locked down times…

“We have works across all mediums from painters, through to illustrators and photographers and ceramicists. The artists’ responses have been incredible with some submitting sought-after collectors’ items and others creating new one-off pieces just for us. We think there will be opportunities for every budget, with pieces from established and award-winning artists to emerging creatives.’

The exhibition is live now at www.theangelgallery.com and you can view and place silent closed bids until 21st February.
