Marina Abramovic to shock herself with one million volts for new solo exhibition.

Marina Abramovic is busy creating new work for her solo show at London’s Royal Academy of Arts in 2020, and is now collaborating with the art-tech company Factum Arte to become a conductor of electricity.

The company is building a machine to charge her with one million volts with a Dorset goat farmer and an engineer named Dwight Perry. The aim is for Abramovic to charge herself to the extent that she is able to extinguish a flame from a metre away.

“I am 71 years old, I am in the last part of my life, very conscious of making this transition. I think that when you die you do not go to darkness, but to light. What we are going to try to create is a way to make myself disappear in the light”
