The award, which is now in its fourth year, was established by the restaurateur and author Mark Hix and CNB Gallery director Rebecca Lidert to help young artists taking their first professional steps into the art world.
The Award is free and easy to sign up to and the winner receives a £1,000 cash prize; a £1,000 voucher for art materials from CASS Art Supplies; £1,000 HIX dining vouchers; a trip to HIX Townhouse in Lyme Regis and a feature in the autumn issue of HIX magazine.
This is a chance to build a long-standing relationship with a well-known Shoreditch Gallery with the opportunity to be part of a mentorship programme with previous HIX Award winners.
Applications are made online, and are then shortlisted by CNB Gallery director Rebecca Lidert. They are then judged by a 25-strong panel of high profile art experts who will choose the official winner of The HIX Award 2016. This year judges include Fru Tholstrop, Stephen Webster, Liz Murdoch and Mark Hix.
Past winners of the award, physically embodied in a sculpture which was created by Damien Hirst, have included Felix Treadwell, Nicholas Permain, and Ally McIntyre. Ally is now represented by CNB Gallery and has a solo exhibition at the gallery that closes on July 8th 2016.
The deadline is midnight, July 2nd, 2016.
