I am the type of person that is easily excited and equally easily bored of design. Many objects have caught my attention and made me obsessed with every aspect of their being, but soon enough I will find something else to Pinterest. Having said that, one thing I cannot seem to get over, are objects that rock! Rocking horses have been a part of my life since I was a child, and that obsession has developed into an admiration for rocking chairs. I have always been a fan of the Eames Rocking chair, I have one myself, in grey, I sit on it every morning, usually with a cup of tea on the phone to my mom.
However about a year ago, I was introduced to Mario Milana, and everything has since changed I now want an entire lounge of his ‘Rulla’ rocking chairs. Mario is a New York/ Milan based designer whose work was considered one of Wallpaper Magazine’s ‘top 15 must see designers’ at New York Design, Vogue featured his work alongside works of the Memphis movement.
The furniture itself, although light in its appearance, has a spring to it, when moving on and off the chairs, you feel as light as their lines appear, which lets face it, no one likes to feel their own weight when sitting up and down.
Definitely my pick for permanent design obsession, anything from the rocking chair to the day bed will stand as a piece of sculpture bringing life to any interior.
