The new Sinclair Spectrum Vega is designed by Retro Computers, a Luton-based company part-owned by Sir Clive Sinclair’s own Sinclair Research. The initial production wave has been funded through its IndieGogo campaign. Those who backed the campaign can expect a device packed with 1000 games at launch and compatibility with digital versions of any of the roughly 24,000 released for the machine.
The machine will have an SD card slot, allowing users to load their own Spectrum games. It will also have an onscreen keyboard, which addresses the matter of text adventures to an extent, and Retro is “considering possibilities” for connecting physical keyboards.
