The rise of the urban sketching movement continues to gain traction as global artist collective Urban Sketchers calls on the creative community to take ownership of their city by sketching its streets. At an all-day event in London’s Covent Garden on Saturday 6th September, four of the collective’s representatives will live-sketch the streets of this historic quarter, inviting participation from passers-by and sharing their tips. As a group of amateurs, professional sketchers, teachers and self-taught illustrators, they will spread their motto “See the world one drawing at a time” both on the pages of Moleskine Sketch Albums as well as online through maps, galleries and Instagram posts.
The Moleskine Store at 40 King Street and nearby London Graphic Centre will act as event hubs where artists of all abilities can drop by to meet the sketchers and take part in one of the Learning Sessions; at which the Urban Sketchers will weave in their own experiences to talk about what sketching means for them while offering guidance as participants undertake their own drawings in and around Covent Garden.
