About the prize

The Aesthetica Art Prize is an annual award given by the international art and culture publication Aesthetica Magazine. Distinguished by its dynamic content, merging compelling critical debate and stunning images, the magazine engages with all aspects of visual art and culture, attracting an audience of over 168,000 worldwide.

The Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world and offers artists the opportunity to showcase their work to wider audiences and further their involvement in the international art world.

The Aesthetica Art Prize is committed to innovation in art, welcoming entries from artists working in all media. Artists may submit their work into any one of the four categories:

–          Photographic & Digital Art

–          Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture

–          Painting & Drawing

–          Video, Installation & Performance

There are two awards that artists can enter: the Main Prize, and the Student Prize.

 

Key dates

Deadline for entries is 31 August 2014.

Judging will take place between September and December. In December the long list will be announced, and the short list announced in February 2015.

An exhibition of short-listed artists will take place in March, with the winner announced during the exhibition.

 

Cost of entry

£15 plus VAT allows the submission of two works into any one category. Applicants may enter as many times as they wish.

Restrictions

Work submitted must have been produced within 3 years at the time of entering, and must be available for exhibition in the Spring of 2015.

The Prize

The Aesthetica Art Prize is delighted to announce a new award of £5,000 for the Main Prize winner and £1,000 for the Student Prize winner! In addition, the prize offers artists the opportunity to showcase their work to new audiences.

The judging panel for the 2014 Aesthetica Art Prize includes Anna Vogel (artist), Cherie Frederico (Co-Founder and MD of Aesthetica Magazine), Matthew Flowers (Managing Director of Flowers Gallery), Professor Rob Dickens (CBE), Dr Sam Lackey (Curator at the Hepworth Wakefield), Sarah Perks (Artistic Director at Cornerhouse & HOME) and Whitney Hintz (Independent Advisor and Curator of the Hiscox Collection).
