FAD’s favourite (and best) video art fair Moving Image have launched in Istanbul it will take place September 25th–28th at the Kuleli Building – Haliç Congress Center during Art International Istanbul.
Moving Image are also partnering with Istanbul art institution the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection to launch a $10,000 prize that will fund the acquisition of a piece from the fair for the Istanbul-based museum’s permanent collection. A similar acquisition-funding prize, the Moving Image Award, was given out at the fair’s London edition last year, allowing Guangzhou’s 53 Art Museum to acquire works by Jessica Faiss and Rollin Leonard Receive.
“The international reputation of the Borusan Contemporary Art collection was one of the major considerations in our choosing Istanbul for the third location of the Moving Image art fair,” fair co-founders Murat Orozobekov and Edward Winkleman said in a statement. “Few collections anywhere have the depth, adventurous spirit, or energy of this carefully considered anthology of important contemporary new media artwork, and we are so honored and delighted that they are sponsoring this prize. We are extremely grateful to the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection for their very generous support of our first edition of Moving Image Istanbul.”
Moving Image is the first fair to focus exclusive on film, video, new media, and other forms of moving image art. It already has editions in New York (during Armory Week) and London (concurrent with Frieze)
