This audio-visual work of art, is easier to understand as a sculpture than as video art, it is made of the national anthems and national flags of all the countries participating in the World Cup in Brazil and responds to Mildenberger’s previous works that deal with media overload.
The individual national anthems of each country (Brazil, Japan, Australia, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Netherlands, Argentina, USA, Costa Rica, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Colombia, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, England, Spain, Honduras, Chile, Ecuador, Greece, Portugal, France, Croatia, Uruguay, Mexico, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana, Algeria) are heard at the same time and play continuously in a loop. The flags of all 32 countries have been fused together using a complex mathematical algorithm, which results in a digital (moving) image with changes subtly over time.
