“Bodies” is Alina Teodorescu’s first exhibition in London, as a continuation of a series of three other solo shows organized in 2013 in Beirut, Bucharest and Bangkok.

In her new series of paintings, Alina conveys a personal cry for freedom through epicurean forms that validate the human body as a space of intense interactions between concepts such as good and evil, frivolity and spirituality. The series is inspired by the ardent tensions that have shaped the artists’ strenuous existence.

Alina’s bold figurative works are an expose of her daily diary, transcending boundaries between mediums; an inner dialogue about releasing tensions to attain freedom.

With a strong background in interior design, Alina always experimented with the most innovative materials and technologies, emphasising her capacity to continuously adapt to the latest/most current aesthetic realities. Naturally, when she decided to dedicate her career to becoming an artist, Alina continued to experiment, to innovate and to create her own path. Discovering the endless possibilities offered by the new digital formats as a means of new expression played an important role in Alina’s development as an artist.. For example the iPad by Apple and Brushes application, known through the contribution of English artist David Hockney, popularised by one of his recent exhibits at The Royal Academy. The artist talks with a lot of enthusiasm about the joy of painting with his fingers on the iPad as an extension of his own being.

In her exhibitions, Alina is exploring her full aesthetic arsenal in perfect communion with the space. Whether digital prints from iPad drawings, oil on canvas or acrylic applied delicately to paper or Plexiglas, all her works/pieces vibrate the same rhythm.

Playboy Club exhibition will display 12 acrylics on canvas, 9 acrylics on paper and 17 digital works on photographic paper or acrylic glass in editions of 4, a total of 38 works, presented in accordance with the exclusive design of the venue.

About the artist:
Alina Teodorescu is a 32 years old Romanian born artist living and working in London, with an eight years international career in interior design.
She studied architecture, design and art in Bucharest, Milan and London and she now dedicated herself exclusively to painting.

“I recently started to express myself primarily through my art. Everything I create now is the result of a long and detailed analysis of my life. For many years I was just an observer. The work I do now is amazement for me, a reaction to a surprise, regardless whether is good or bad. All goes through my personal sifter and is being influenced by both the social and the environmental context I am in.”
