WEEK: 24 Feb- 2 March
There are loads of art events such as private views, artists talks, and screenings happening around London, and often it is impossible to choose where to go and what to see. To help you with the choice Jenny Judova from Art Map London will be advising on what events seem worth attending during the week.
TUESDAY 25 Feb
W3 Gallery, 6pm private view ‘The Gioconda Project – contemporary artists experiment on the Mona Lisa in Acton’
181 contemporary artists, from 51 countries, have individually reinterpreted the Mona Lisa for The Gioconda Project, because one Mona Lisa is not enough!
WEDNESDAY 26 Feb
Breese Little, 6-9pm private view Jan Manski ‘Possesia’
Breese Little is one of my personal favourites, partly because the gallery usually shows monsters and post apocalyptic worlds. In Possessia they they show Jan Manski’s work of nightmarish creatures that satirises our destructive obsession with beauty through plastic surgery, and war.
Wilkinson Gallery, 6-8pm private view A. K. Dolven solo show
An exhibition of new work by A. K. Dolven probably the most famous Norwegian artist, featuring paintings and sound work. The exhibition will span both the upper and lower gallery spaces.
THURSDAY 27 Feb
Richard Saltoun, 7pm ‘Living the Dream’ Professor
Gavin Butt explores the Andy Warhol / Paul Morrissey film, Women in Revolt! (1971) in the context of the Transformer exhibition.
The last event to take place during the brilliant ‘Transformers’ exhibition, and also the last chance to see the show that closes on the 28th. The talk will focus on the dreams of stardom and social advancement that the film arguably attempts to make real for its transgender players. The film features Andy Warhol superstars and transgender underground legends Candy Darling, Jackie Curtis and Holly Woodlawn.

FRIDAY 28 Feb
Chisenhale Gallery, 6:30-8:30pm private view Camille Henrot ‘Pale Fox’The first UK solo exhibition by French, New York based artist Camille Henrot who works across sculpture, drawing and video. This new commission follows Henrot’s presentation at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013), for which she received the Silver Lion for most promising young artist, and develops from her recent residency at The Smithsonian in Washington DC, where she explored the museum’s extensive collection of artefacts. This new body of work makes links between the history of the universe and the universe of the artists’ studio, the construction of knowledge and its relationship to haptic experience.
Arcadia Missa, 6:30-8pm Viktor Timofeev ‘Palace of Peace’
Viktor Timofeev’s Project Palace of Peace is drawing to its conclusion at Arcadia Missa Gallery, after touring many venues and countries throughout 2013. The private view will feature work and performances throughout the evening, from: Cindie Cheung, Viktor Timofeev, Simon Werner, and Clifford Sage/Rescund. And a unique artist edition, by Viktor Timofeev.

Enclave Gallery, 6-9pm private view Sue Cohen ‘Gilda’s House’
Gilda – a fictitious character is the focus of my work that has presented itself in sculpture, painting and installation, the twist is that Gilda represent ‘the Other’. Othering is imperative to national identities, where practices of admittance and segregation can form and sustain boundaries and national character. Othering helps distinguish between home and away, the uncertain or certain. It often involves the demonization and dehumanization of groups, which further justifies attempts to civilize and exploit these ‘inferior’ others. ‘The Other’ is a very relevant topic for todays world.

SUNDAY 2 MARCH
Encounter Fine Art, 8:15pm reception of Sungfeel Yun showcase hosted by Sketch
I stumbled across the work of the Korean artist Sungfeel Yun at the London art Fair and again in the East Wing, and I really want to stumble across it again, there is something playful about how the metal flakes move around the giant magnet and how you get to throw them back onto the work.
