Womenswear label Another 8 previewed their debut collection last week with a palette of superlative pieces that took their cue from ‘90s silhouettes. Boxy sweatshirts, crop tops and oversized, graphic Tees were partnered with pencil skirts, city shorts, T-shirt dresses, sheer shift tops and grown-up dungarees that took on a playful twist.
Underpinned by a monochromatic colour scheme, a delectable range of dove grey, cloudy blue dusty rose, burgundy and vermillion hues alongside liquid golds and metallic silvers added splashes of warmth, whilst the two versions of leopard print (Jacquard and Trompe-l’oeil) and tiger motif print added a cool, coquettishness. Although the collection appears minimal at first glance, the cut and choice of fabrics animates Another 8’s contemporary design ideas. The contrast of textures such as the candyfloss-coloured mohair sweaters, the perforated leather look Tees, premium jersey separates, distressed, leather biker jackets, suede A-line mini skirts and faux chainmail tops introduce a hard edge to an otherwise effortlessly simple, capsule collection. We particularly loved Another 8’s modern take on the traditional quilting technique, which featured both as a textile and as a print, as well as the unisex, pixilated print T-shirts.
Bridging the gap between high end and high street, Another 8’s urban luxe and sports luxe pieces afford the customer directional designs at a price point that is accessible; most items were under £100.
