Deadline: Monday August 5th
Navigate is a two-way learning, roving group of artists. Between a yurt, a yard, a boat, and a studio, we will use temporary sites where artists can set-up in the city. Navigate aims to facilitate a programme of transitional two-way education and practice building around Hackney WickED Festival 2013. The programme will allow the artist workshop leaders to develop their skills, transferring their practice into a learning context. The participants will also gain experience. From working through different artist practice based issues in a group, they will discuss development, collaboration, documentation, and indirectly interrogate their own practice throughout the project.

They are looking for:

– Two individual artists, duo’s or collectives.
– Artists with a performative, social or multi-disciplinary practice.
– To lead a two-day workshop environment which explores ideas of collaboration and artist-practice issues through key themes in your practice.

Submission: Write a proposal for two-day workshop by Monday August 5th in this format:

– Choose 2/3 days from the 23rd of August through September that suits you. Choose either a weekend or Saturday/ Sundays in row, or other format depending on your practice.
– Develop a unique and unusual two-day workshop exploring materials, themes and journeys in your practice. Its up to you, but you can include hands-on making, walks, visits to where you create work, or are inspired, unusual and unique techniques. We encourage you to use the group to push ideas further that you wouldn’t normally be able to realise. We encourage a using range of media to document from film to online to evidence of performance.
– We would like you to use the sites we provide, listed above, and the journeys between to be spaces of production or inspiration. We encourage work outside/ with the public/ using the city/ different spaces as a material.

Funding: £200 for budget including materials and travel for two to three day workshop per artist.
