Have a Nice Day is a project by artist Hannah Perry, running to July this year which will culminate in a video and live performance. The event will be premiered at the Barbican Art Gallery on 13th July, and be presented digitally by online platform bubblebyte.org through a take-over in July of Create London’s website – www.createlondon.org. There will be an Open Rehearsal in Greenwich on 29th June, which is free to attend.

Hannah Perry will collaborate with invited artists, Jesse Darling, Stan Iordanov, Yuri Patterson, Paul Purgas, Alex Ressel and Rosie Whitney-Fish in the areas of audio production, live video and performance, to co-produce the piece with 25 teenagers from south-east London.

Through a series of sessions run by the artists Have a Nice Day hopes to expand their digital knowledge, experience and creativity. Examining influences on the modern life of young people, this project will be developed and informed by the teenagers’ worldview through their use, production and manipulation of multi-media, exploring how they process image, sound, news, facts and trends. Have a Nice Day will reflect the teenage experience, through digital material devised and generated during the months leading up to the performance.

The final performance will see the workshop participants taking centre-stage as protagonists in an immersive theatrical montage of action and pre-recorded footage, audio-loops and soundscapes, mixed with live feed scenes. The project is curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini.

About The Artist
Hannah Perry (born 1984) is a British artist working mainly in installation, print and video. Graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2009 and currently studying at The Royal Academy of Arts, her multimedia works are part-sculpture, part-intervention.

Continuously generating and manipulating materials (footage, sound clips, images and objects,) Perry develops a sprawling network of references, carefully exploring personal memory in today’s hyper-technological society whilst bending back the systems of representation via hyperactive distribution.

Perry is guided by music or speech, repetition, focalisation and deceleration, revealing the strength of our personal investment in images of the illusory (youth, power, sex, taste, lifestyle) as well as the prescriptive nature of these desires.
