I am currently based in Falmouth where I am a third year BA (Hons) Photography student at Falmouth University.
The image attached is from a series of work titled “Omission”
This series creates an unfamiliar environment that questions the subjectivity of light and our experience of perception. The absence of light creates space using form and shape for the viewer to reflect upon these ideas.Visually for this work I was inspired by the artist James Turrell and stylised films such as, ”2001, A Space Odyssey” directed by Stanley Kubrick and “Beyond the Black Rainbow” directed by Panos Cosmatos.
I often use references from television and cinema in my work because I believe that these medias have become such a fluid and integral part of our everyday lives, we no longer question the television itself, instead only ‘what is on the television’.
