About Wayne
I was born in Shropshire, England. Before I moved to London in 1999 I had been a technical illustrator for a Japanese company, a magazine illustrator, studied printmaking at Bourneville and then took up sculpting during my time studying fine art at Northampton University.
In 2005 I was awarded a bursary from the Royal British Society of Sculptors and am now an associate member.
As well as my work appearing in galleries, magazines and on TV, my sculptures have appeared in the recent feature film, ‘Scratch’, directed by Jakob Rørvik.
In 2008 John Malkovich chose my script as the winning entry in the Sony VAIO Scriptwriting competition. This script, along with Malkovich’s and two others was then turned into the short animated film, ‘Snow Angel’.
I also run sculpture workshops for schools and businesses.
The majority of my sculptural work involves the reworking and assemblage of found objects/materials. Materials that I feel have a certain ‘resonance’. Much of my work centres on the theme of memory or its fallibility. This is more strongly evident in my pieces that incorporate or recreate childhood artefacts and toys. Another re-occurring theme or motif in my work is that of the wheeled box or tower, which represents containment, the urge to possess and restricted mobility.
You can also submit your work for inclusion on FAD just use our Facebook Page to submit it. Please add info about your work and about yourself Good Luck !
