Simon Oldfield. is launching a new exhibition and project space at 6 Carlos Place, Mayfair.

Spanning four floors, this handsome townhouse will once again be beating to the rhythm of the new. The programme includes a series of group exhibitions, solo presentations, site-specific installations, writing, discussion, storytelling and screenings across the month of December.

At the heart of the building is Seduction, an exhibition exploring the power of beauty to seduce, and also corrupt. The desire for a succession of pleasures. The attractive allure of the perfectly perfect.

Throughout 6 Carlos Place, the artists present work in a range of media including painting, installation, sculpture, sound, photography, video and drawing.

Participating artists include: Neal Tait, Sam Knowles, Martin Westwood, Ben Ashton, Ryan Leigh, Juno Calypso, Tim Stoner, Mark Davey, Debbie Sim, Clare Price, Luey Graves, Mark Titchner, Esther Teichmann, Greta Alfaro, Martha Gut, Lisa Hall, Kay Harwood, Julia Fodor aka Princess Julia, Tim Ellis, Francesca Oldfield, Ben Ravenscroft, Sam Plagerson, Jonny Briggs, Russell Terry and Daniel Wallis. As the programme develops more artists will be announced.

Elizabeth Day, an award winning author and journalist, is the writer-in-residence. Every Wednesday before Christmas at 4pm, the public is invited to experience the immediacy of the spoken word and story-telling tradition as Elizabeth reads from a range of short stories or extracts from current and classic literary works.

ABSURD \\ What does it all really mean?

Post-truth news read a bit like a Kafka novel: the Queen is now a man, mini-budgets topple macro-economics, you can’t have an oven-ready cake and heat it, even fools no longer know the price of everything. According to the holy grail of fact [Wikipedia], the absurd is that which lacks a sense, often because it involves some form of contradiction.
