Karen Bystedt collaboration of photograph and Peter Tunney silk screen
ABOUT
Karen Bystedt attributes influence in her work to Warhol. Andy, dazzled by celebrities from Debbie Harry to Dennis Hopper, snapped anyone who was anyone, and yet he allowed himself to be photographed in 1982 by a 19-year-old NYU photography student, Bystedt. What sets Bystedt apart from other celebrity photographers is her unique ability to see stars before they have risen, roles before they have been played, and to support those manifesting their dreams. In 1993, Bystedt published “Before They Were Famous”, a collection of intimate photographs and candid interviews with actors such as Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, Robert Downey Jr., Lawrence Fishburne, Laura Dern, Patrick Dempsey and many more. ??”The Lost Warhols” remained hidden until 2011, and are only now being offered for sale in limited edition box sets and 40″ x 40″ prints.??Four of Karen’s photographs from “The Lost Warhols” Fine Art Photo Collection are now a part of The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. The Collection was featured at Art Basel Miami 2011.
