TAG Farnborough Airport has become the first business aviation airport in the world to showcase the works of British artist Damien Hirst and designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, following their striking contribution to the London 2012 Olympic Games with the closing ceremony ‘spin flag’ and Olympic torch respectively.
Paintings by Damien Hirst, including his iconic butterfly, spin and spot paintings and a hanging light sculpture by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, which the designers say is inspired by the “hidden beauty of aviation technology”, have been assembled by Tatiana Ojjeh, founder of Artliner Art & Aviation, in collaboration with the artists and Haunch of Venison Gallery, London and New York.
“I am immensely grateful to Damien Hirst, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby as well as Haunch of Venison for sharing these outstanding works and helping to bring art to new audiences beyond traditional museums and galleries,” said Ojjeh. “I am thrilled to have these works at TAG Farnborough and am confident that the airport’s customers and employees alike will enjoy this unique experience.”
