Marc Jacobs Recruits Yayoi Kusama for art installation Collaboration

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs, the creative director for Louis Vuitton, has commissioned Yayoi Kusama, best known for her polka-dots, to collaborate on a new line of luxury goods.
The 82 year old Kusama has worked with Jacobs in the past, creating leather goods and ready-to-wear, accessories, which were popular especially in the buoyant Japanese market. The new line will preview at Louis Vuitton stores in July. Kusama will also design the installation art in the shop windows, which will accompany the products.

Kusama recently closed her Centre Pompidou retrospective in Paris but has a busy year ahead, from 9 February to 5 June Tate Modern in London is also mounting a major show of her work which will than move to the Whitney in New York, where it will open from 12 July to 30 September. The Tate Modern and Whitney shows are sponsored by Louis Vuitton.
