Up and Coming Artists to watch from New Blood Art #2

Edgar Askelovic
Askelovic creates hyperreal works, both sculptural and performance based in the way in which the artist situates the sculptures in context. Uncanny to experience, these works are overt, confrontational and loaded with political significance.

The “Homeless Queen” is a realistic sculpture, made from polystyrene, silicone, fibreglass and resin. It represents fake financial crisis. The sculpture was installed in different places around Birmingham city. Also, the “Homeless Queen” was used in a performance, that was shown on BCC channel, and the sculpture has been robbed by Johnny Rotten from the “Sex Pistols” music band.”

Arrestingly realistic, as you awkwardly return her gaze, the Uncanny will cause your spine to tingle. This sculpture will stop you in your tracks.
