Cult internet animation, Dog Judo, has recorded 5 new episodes with Rik Mayall playing the voice of Roy’s Dad. First episode to air Thurs Sept 30t on www.dogjudo.com.
The character is described by Dog Judo creator, Andrew Kelleher, as an ageing mod that spends most of his time reading the Racing Post in his local pub where he’s never short of an opinion. He’s got intense eyes that hint at a wildness below, the kind of character that often talks a bit too close to someone’s face. He is disappointed with his son’s obsession with judo. He would rather it be with scooters, pubs and girls.
“When we thought of Roy’s Dad, the only person we wanted to play him was Rik. The man’s a legend.”
The first episode, ‘Detective Rexington’, featuring Rik Mayall is broadcast on dogjudo.com on Thursday 30th September. Rexley phones Roy’s Dad to inform him that his son has been detained in the Bronx for indulging in recreational dirty stuff. In the next episode, Text Messages, broadcast on 14th October, Roy’s Dad confronts Roy over sending his parents a series of text messages that are definitely not judo.
Dog Judo is a fortnightly animated cartoon strip (every other Thursday) that appears on dogjudo.com. Each episode is a minute long. The animations are produced by 12foot6 who animated the first series of Modern Toss, wrote and animated BAFTA nominated The Sensibles for Jetix as well as producing many ads and idents over the years for the likes of Virgin Media and Paramount Comedy Channel.
