Patchwork Social at V&A

This weekend the V&A have been hosting a series of sociable events inspired by the current exhibition Quilts 1700-2010. We stumbled across a patch work sewing session today which turned out to great fun so if you’re stuck for something to do with your bank holiday Monday why not head on down for the last day of these special events and hone your quilting skills?

This truly is the most wholesome day time activity I can possibly imagine – Choose your floral fabric pack, join a sewing room full of chattering kids and grannies and help yourself to tea and biscuits whilst stitching together a patchwork block for a child a Great Ormand Street Hospital. If that doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, you’re beyond help. (Note: This is a particularly good way to repent for your bank holiday sins).

‘Sew Patch Work Blocks For Charity’
Monday 3rd May
V&A, Art Studio, Sackler Centre
11:00-16:00, drop-in

Pick up a simple patchwork kit and stitch nine squares together by hand or machine as you chat with fellow quilters. Experienced tutors and artists will be on hand to guide you and offer advice if you are new to patchwork. Leave you finished 12 x 12 inch patchwork square to be incorporated into one of several quilts. The V&A will be donating all finished quilts to the charity Project Linus UK which supports children with serious illness or trauma.
