British artist Nicolas Ruston contributes original works of art to raise money for CHASE hospice care for children.

Nicolas Ruston, who was recently shortlisted for the Sovereign European Art Prize, has just completed two original collage works on postcard to raise money for CHASE. The two works, produced specifically for the event, are entitled “I’m terrified of Santa” (pictured) and “I grew up feeling ugly”. Ruston chose collage because it’s often the starting point for his original scratch-paintings. The subject matter – scavenged from glossy magazines and newspapers – is a continuation of Ruston’s enquiry into the effects of the mass media.

The event will take place on 27th April 2010. Richmond friend’s of CHASE will be holding the exhibition of art on postcards at Goldsmiths’ Hall, Foster Lane, London EC2V 6BN.

So far over 450 postcards have been donated by a broad spectrum of artists, which include members of the Royal Academy, commercial artists, illustrators and students. The postcards will be on display from 6–9pm, where a postcard lottery will be held. Each entry at £75 will win at least one postcard. There will also be a silent auction of larger pieces of work. Artists who have contributed include Mary Fedden RA, Fred Cuming RA, Nicolas Ruston, Gerald Scarfe, Michael Foreman, Christopher Le Brun RA, Bill Tidy and Matt.

The entrance is £80 and includes abundant champagne and canapés with a chance to experience the splendour of Goldsmiths’ Hall and view their displays.

If you would like a ticket for the event please contact Nicky Price: 020 8878 7635
