The oldest gnome in Preston has become the strangest volunteer yet to take part in a London art project. Thurtinkle Garnetgetter became the first non-human to appear on Antony Gormleys’ Trafalgar Square plinth on Saturday.
During his hour-long slot the 287-year-old storytelling fairytale character told stories, played games, read Fairy Tales by Monty Python actor Terry Jones, and invited the audience to construct an entirely new story using social networking site Twitter.
The brainchild of Preston-based Dynamic New Animation (DNA), Thurtinkle has already built up a huge fanbase, especially among children. Thurtinkle Twitter
